From 13 to 16 September 2026, the University of Foggia organised the Summer School “The European Research Area and Researchers - Human Resources Strategy for Researchers” on the Tremiti Islands.
The Summer School was part of the programme “Arcipelago delle Diomedee. Per un’Europa libera ed unita”, funded by the Apulia Region under Regional Law 17/2023, which recognises the Tremiti Islands as a place of freedom, European integration, memory, culture, beauty and legend.
The initiative offered young researchers from the University of Foggia an intensive training programme on key topics related to the European Research Area (ERA). National and international speakers and experts explored European funding programmes, including Horizon Europe, the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions and the European Research Council (ERC), as well as European project development, international partnerships and major challenges in contemporary research, including environmental sustainability, artificial intelligence, health and social innovation.
The four-day programme also created opportunities for dialogue among researchers from different scientific fields and for the exchange of knowledge and perspectives on European research and project development.
On 16 September, INTERESH was among the projects presented during the session “European Research and Successful Project Development: Experiences in Dialogue”, dedicated to European project development. Prof. Nicola Faccilongo presented INTERESH’s activities and the four Experimental Actions underway in Apulia, exploring the role of farmers, researchers, institutions and local actors in the project’s work on soil health.
